Pop-punk group turned indie-rock band The Vaccines were just sprouting up two years ago, and now, they have already released their second album The Vaccines: Come of Age which recently reached number 1 in the album chart. Now, the London rockers have released their third single from this album which is called I Always Knew. Previous singles No Hope and Teenage Icon were both full of crashing sounds and high tempo, yet this is more sedated and muffled. Lyrically, the chorus is straight-forward and unimaginative, but everywhere else the lyrics are lovely. The riffs are sweet and they have established the rock sound that critics doubted was there. And on that note, tomorrow I'll see them live and a live report will be finished by Wednesday.

Two Door Cinema Club-Sun
Two Door Cinema Club may get slated frequently for their lack of change in music, with upbeat pop hooks with screeching guitars at a rapid tempo, but their new single Sun is not the norm. The crooning riffs from the guitars are bloody brilliant. The chorus is still upbeat, but slower and less messy, showing that a lack of instruments can make a great sound. Frontman Alex Trimble is as consistent as ever on the local vocals and keyboard, showing his versatility. Sleep Alone was a load of noise and poor parts, Sun is a lot more matured and overall better.

Rudimental feat. John Newman & Alex Clare-Not Giving In
So one of the best dance songs and one of the best dubstep songs of the year were produced by Rudimental (with John Newman) and Internet Explorer guy Alex Clare respectively, so imagine the three artists merged together to make a monster of a dance anthem? Yes, it has happened! The amazing soulful voice of vocalist John Newman resembles a white Otis Redding in the parts of their new song Not Giving In where he sings with no instruments interfering with his vocals except from a trumpet playing blues. When the drum and bass kicks in, the song bursts into life. Vocally this is brilliant and the drum and bass is pure genius. In many ways, this is even better than Feel The Love and a follow-up song is well needed.

Olly Murs feat. Flo Rida-Troublemaker
I have to say...I actually like a song which features hip-hop menace Flo Rida. Despite finding him incredibly irritating, I cannot help but love the song Troublemaker fronted by ska-pop singer Olly Murs. It is a bit strange seeing Flo Rida in a song that doesn't sound at all R&B, instead it is almost cheesy pop. Yet, people love it (take note Steps). Not Murs' best work by a long shot, but it's still fun and my guilty pleasure.

Noisettes-I Want You Back
Surely you all remember Noisettes? Well if you don't then surely you have no TV as the band's Mazda advert tune Don't Upset The Rhythm boosted their popularity and brought them to fame. Now, they release their follow-up album Contact and their synth-pop-influenced single I Want You Back. It may be difficult to make songs like their fame finding song (mentioned above) and their cutesy track Never Forget You, but it manages to do be respected and will be catchy to some listeners. A competent song that has left me fairly satisfied.

Kelly Clarkson-Catch My Breath
She had the world excited when after winning American Idol and declaring herself a rockstar, yet since her single Since U Been Gone, Kelly Clarkson's music has been far from the rock that she described and this includes new single Catch My Breath. Instead of this new rock chick, we have been given another regurgitated popstar with another boring ditzy pop song. Her mum-rock tunes can only go so far and unfortunately the new one isn't very special either. It's not at all breathtaking or "breath-catching" of any measure.

Girls Aloud-Something New
Girls Aloud are that one pop group you are allowed to adore. They're exciting, their songs are catchy and they are five lovely looking girls. With this being their tenth year as a group they have embarked on a tour after a three year hiatus and their charity single Something New (despite being, well, new) has hardly pushed any boundaries. It is going to be a huge song - in department stores where Girls Aloud are idolised, however, the music isn't made from raw instrument and isn't going to send teenagers into hysteria, but people should be impressed that they haven't returned with a career-ending single, and have produced something half decent.

Daley feat. Jessie J-Remember Me
Relatively unknown experimental artist Daley may have hit the jackpot with a collaboration with diva Jessie J which might boost his career. They recorded his new single Remember Me and the single is due this week. The soul-pop track is a refreshing sound, with the new, reinvigorated Jessie J looking and sounding better than usual. Daley may look like a bit of an out-of-place twat, but his voice is rich and soulful. The chorus is infectious and the verses do a great job, to compensate for an uncreative bridge. You never know, Daley might bring a new wave of pop music to the charts - and I would like that.

Chris Brown-Don't Judge Me
Hmm I wonder what Chris Brown's new song is all about? With a title like Don't Judge Me it's hard to think what else it could be about other than his women-beating ways towards R&B singer Rihanna. Yet, just like the message of the song, Brown is telling listeners to not judge his music on his controversial past, but on his songs. Yet after hearing that, I feel more abused by him than Rihanna did with his poor excuse of "music". The track is horribly bland and unimaginative and could put you to sleep. Not very inspiring. Sorry mate, you have just been judged.

Alicia Keys-Girl On Fire
Piano-playing R&B sweetheart Alicia Keys has been very busy since her last album The Element of Freedom. She has matured greatly, cut her locks of curly hair to a shorter do and had a child, yet after what seems like becoming quite sedated in the past three years, she has brought her music to life with her new flaming single Girl On Fire. The pun was not intentional. Her voice has not suffered and neither has her music. Great to see genuine talent in the charts even if it is pop music, and I would expect a few more albums from the singer-songwriter.

Whitney Houston feat. R Kelly-I Look To You
My first thought when I seen this single was being released was "Oh God not another one of these posthumous singles again" when I seen Whitney Houston magically collaborating with R&B sensation R Kelly, until I realised it was Houston's 2009 hit I Look To You which he had written and played at her funeral. Now the song has been re-released featuring R Kelly, but he doesn't really add anything to this fairly average song, at a time where Houston was already past it. So it's just basically the original being re-released the exact same.

Stooshe-Waterfalls
So soul sounding trio of Stooshe aren't singing one of their own songs in their new album despite telling NME in January that they would write their own material and not let the evil labels tell them what to do. Now it is November and unfortunately they have managed to cover a song. They are covering TLC's hip-hop single Waterfalls which has a history of accused copyright from Sir Paul McCartney (who said they had taken parts of his song and dubbed it as their own). I would love to say this is as great as their beautiful single Black Heart, but it doesn't quite cut it. First, covers don't exactly show that you have creativity and secondly, their vocals aren't pushed enough to say that this song is significant. They do the standard job, but there's nothing else there.

Melanie C feat. Emma Bunton-I Know Him So Well
So former tomboy Sporty Spice is teaming up with fellow Spice Girl Baby Spice also known as Melanie C and Emma Bunton as Mel C releases her new single I Know Him So Well. This song is great depending on what you like. If you love Christmas songs, you'll adore this. If you have a hatred for them, don't listen to this. Neutrally, despite it's cheesy sound, the two possess great voices and their harmonies together are wonderful, something that didn't get to show during their time in the The Spice Girls.

McFly-Love Is Easy
Pop rockers McFly have only just returned back onto the music scene, but they have yet again produced a lovey-dovey track that will win the hearts of many fangirls and other adoring fans. This is called Love Is Easy which features a lot of ukuleles and fun in the video and just as much in the song itself. It may not be the cool surf-rock of 5 Colours In Her Hair, however people will sing it (including my sister who is currently belting it out) and the boys have yet again made a unique hit. Little Mix-DNA
I have to say, I do have a soft spot for girl group Little Mix. As usual, I hated the winner's song on the X-Factor, yet, unlike most of the successful artists from the reality talent show, I actually loved them afterwards. They have everything - harmonies, sex appeal and catchy songs. Now their new single DNA has went a little bit Sin City in the video, and the song is just as badass and beautiful. I'm not saying this is a work of art (it isn't), but it's great fun and shows why the girls could end up becoming the new (and maybe better) Girls Aloud. Slick effort from the group.

Linkin Park-Castle of Glass
This is very, very strange. Punk rockers Linkin Park famous for their skating songs and proper rock, have had quite a diverse album. Their new album Living Things varies from dubstep, to heavy metal, to rock, to folk? Yes, that's right. It's almost as if after listening to Mumfords and Sons' debut album Sigh No More they thought, "Hey we should make a song like this" in which they did. Now, I'm laughing right now as it is miles away from original Linkin in new single Castle of Glass, yet it isn't ridiculously bad. It manages to stay average without becoming embarrassing. It's just a little different from the usual and Linkin Park may be better going back to the days of their album The Hybrid Theory.

Lana Del Rey-Ride
Queen of sadpop Lana Del Rey has recently released her extended album with eight extra songs on it such as H&M advert tune Blue Velvet and more importantly, her new exciting single Ride. This song has quite a lot of qualities in it that her other tracks lack. She obviously has the slightly-downhearted natural voice as she wallows through the track, but then things pick up. A drum beat starts and a big chorus swallows all the depression that may have been present beforehand. A surprisingly catchy chorus is there and a voice that is put to the test in the bridge, with Del Rey hitting some high notes. If you love her or hate her, you have to admit her music has it's own beauty, which has left me speechless. Great work again from the New York singer.

Nevada rockers The Killers have managed to get new album Battle Born to Number 1 in the UK Album Charts, and now after their hit Runaways, they follow it up with a slower song and well-named, Miss Atomic Bomb. As I am with most of their songs, I was unsure what to think of it, but I've realised it's songs like these that make The Killers great. This is ultimate romance rock, full of beauty and passion in Brandon Flowers' voice and some incredible riffs and a blasting drum beat.

Justin Bieber feat. Nicki Minaj-Beauty And A Beat
Where do I start...who thought it would be great to make two of the most tragic popstars collaborate together and who thought it would be brilliant making the title of the song a pun of a popular Disney film? Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj's new song has left me yawning with disappointment. After hearing some of my friends rave about this song, I had to listen to this - and I was extremely dissatisfied. As much as Bieber's voice may be great, he hasn't really sang a tolerable song, with the exception of Boyfriend, and a catchy song can only go so far. If Bieber hadn't collaborated with Satan's Offspring, Nicki Minaj, he might have had a well-deserved hit and Minaj's trash rap yet again ruins a song which had a little potential.

Green Day-Stray Heart
Punk veterans Green Day have intrigued music fans with their treble album release in a year. With Uno! already released with mixed reviews, with Dos! looking quite much the same as his predecessor. Their forthcoming album features new single Stray Heart, which is a fun piece of pop-punk and was created for the sake of festivals. The track has a sound of the American Idiot album, yet Billie Joe, Mike and Tre have managed to make it distinct from previous songs. It's not an exciting new twist from the California band, but Stray Heart shows critics that Green Day can still rock after 25 years, even if it is quite a second-rate song.

Example-Close Enemies
Rapper/Chart Occupant Example has improved a great deal over the past year, turning him from annoying to addictive. So after his rockier single Say Nothing, Elliot Gleave releases his new single Close Enemies this week. However, the new track is absent of a few catchy hooks, and doesn't compare to the previous single. Although it seems like I'm completely slating this track, the verses more than make up for a slightly weak chorus which is linked with poor lyrics, yet cool dubstep sounds. The rapping at the bridge tops off a slick record from Example, sustaining his credible reputation in music.

Elton John vs Pnau-Phoenix
Pop's greatest drama queen Elton John has teamed up with duo Pnau (associated with side-project Empire of the Sun) for their new album Good Morning to the Night. This new album includes their new single Phoenix. The funky track is full of more groove than the 70s and interesting poppy hooks, courtesy of Pnau. Of what looks like one of the weirdest collaborations in music history, they have done a great job and Phoenix is a great way of showing it. Even if you think he's a twat (I sometimes share this opinion), Elton John has yet again been part of a piece of music genius and I'm hoping for more success from the three of them.

Sub Focus feat. Alpines-Tidal Wave
DJ Sub Focus recently decided to make a second album after his first coming in 2009, and a single is due to be released now. Featuring electropop duo Alpines, Sub Focus releases his single Tidal Wave this week. There's a sweet dance tune to this, with the chorus selling this record, with it's uniqueness and high notes. Alpines contribute a sufficient amount to the song to make it vocally decent. With a good mix of vocals and music, this is well worth a listen.

Scouting For Girls-Without You
With the success of their debut album, Scouting For Girls were tipped for greater things in the future - then came their second album Famous. Since then, the trio have struggled to make any real quality songs and this includes new song Without You. They have left the poppy sound and started to sound like The Script, and one of them is bad enough. Lyrically, it's poor too. You cannot pull off an emotional song and say the word "naked" (see Shaggy-Wasn't Me) as it makes it as beautiful as a bunch of pissed guys singing karaoke at 2 o'clock in the morning. The days are being numbered, and the boys may find it hard to find a label after a poor couple of songs.

Rihanna-Diamonds
If you look at music from a neutral perspective, you'll realise Caribbean R&B star Rihanna is very hit and miss. Some of her music is very catchy, then you get absolute random trash that only sells due to it's sex appeal (see S&M) or because of who is singing it. I'm afraid to say that her new song Diamonds falls into the latter category. The introduction is irritating (which unfortunately features in the chorus too) and keeps spinning around your head like a broken record. At parts, she sounds great and genuine - unlike the dance music she had been selling prior to this single - in which you have to give her credit for. It may still be a hard track to love, but it has taken huge leaps from her last album and she has gained a little sophistication back into her music.

Rock and Blues legend Joe Cocker may not be in the limelight anymore with the change in popular music, but yet at almost 70 years of age, his voice is still incredibly strong and gritty, making Pavarotti look like an amateur. I think his new song Fire It Up would be a well deserved number one, if only. Still, there is nothing wrong with giving Cocker the credibility he truly deserves, with this fiery (very appropriate word) song full of real soul and meaning, you cannot deny he is still as talented as he was back in his glory days of the seventies and eighties.

Evanescence-Lost In Paradise
I think it's fair to say now after another poor album that Evanescence will never be as great as they used to be back in the days where they recorded their most popular album Fallen. I say this because their new single Lost In Paradise is uninspiring and lacks in being different. As much as a few of their songs are beautiful when using the piano, I think vocalist Amy Lee should stick to a heavier sound as this song seems light years away from classic Evanescence. The song doesn't even kick in until two minutes and it just painfully drags through to a suffering end, leaving me bored and unchanged. If you feel this is the best they have made, there's the door.

Eric Prydz-Every Day
If Eric Prydz doesn't ring a bell, he's the man who brought the Call On Me video to life and was a teenage boy's favourite thing back in 2004. However, he doesn't tend to release a lot of material, with his last Top 40 hit being back in 2008 with Pjanoo. He'll be hoping his new single Every Day can emulate the success of that. It is a tune you would expect from Prydz, dancey and quite repetitive. Yet sometimes the simplest songs are the best songs. Despite a lack of change in the song, Prydz has pulled off a competent song that surely will become a party song like Avicii-Levels was. It's not as great as his earlier years, but the Swedish DJ has certainly not shamed himself.

Christina Aguilera-Your Body
She may be in her thirties, but Christina Aguilera is still having fun and looking great. Her new dance anthem is a number that will get you hooked. The verses are pretty standard and generic, but that chorus is powerful and should be the new addiction substitute instead of methadone, it's that catchy. She may never return to the days of Candyman or Genie In a Bottle, but Your Body is her best in five years, even if the origin of the song is a tad basic.

Aerosmith-What Could Have Been Love
Yes, after a week, I AM BACK! [allow time to faint with excitement and shock]Veteran rockers Aerosmith are somehow still making songs, and although their prime time was back in the days where they were the greatest rock band in America, they haven't strayed too far from them days. They release their 3rd single from newly awaited album, Music From Another Dimension! This rock ballad is called What Could Have Been Love. Even though their breakthrough was over 40 years ago, they have managed to successfully change from wizzy rock to powerful swaying defined rock. Although it isn't the best sound, the new track hasn't humiliated the 70s stars and is up their with tearjerker I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing, except missing something. It's not something colossal that is missing, but it won't catch on as much as their most successful single. I'm still shocked at how after all these years Steven Tyler's vocals are still perfect, even if they are missing that scream in his voice.
