This is my 200th post so I had to give it to a pretty special song. So, it goes to hip-hop sensation
Kendrick Lamar's bold new song
Backseat Freestyle from his album
good kid, m.A.A.d city. Some think this is complete trash with what to some people see as Kendrick shouting down a microphone about bitches and comparing his dick to the Eiffel Tower, but there is more to this song than that. The lyrics almost seem childish, before you realise that it is the point of view of a 16 year old Kendrick. The song starts with
"Martin had a dream, Martin had a dream, Kendrick has a dream" showing that just like civil rights leader
Martin Luther King, he has an unrealistic but possible dream to fulfill. His teenage self constantly wishes to be a man
"All my life I want money and power...I pray my dick get big as the Eiffel Tower" as well as showing how ignorant the average teenager can be. Catchy hip-hop and maybe he'll lead a new wave of it with the likes of
Frank Ocean.
