February
February was full of surprises. First of all, Chelsea defender and full-time professor in adultery John Terry was called to Westminster court over allegations of racial abuse on QPR defender Anton Ferdinand back in October 2011. Massive floods then hit Queensland and New South Wales, which was followed up a week later by New York Giants defeating New England Patriots 21-17 in the final of Superbowl XLVI. February also brought tragedy to the music industry with the deaths of Whitney Houston and The Monkees' singer Davy Jones. Then, came an underdog story in African football with Zambia winning the African Cup of Nations with a true underdog story, beating Ivory Coast 8-7 on penalties in the final. The month finished off however, in controversy. Feminist punk band Pussy Riot caught global attention when they were arrested for performing a "punk prayer" in Moscow's largest cathedral to protest against the tyranny of President Vladimir Putin.

March
A year after The Arab Spring, things didn't improve in March with a lot of controversy surrounding the country. First, British Police arrested 6 people in suspicion of perverting the court of justice over the phone hacking scandal. One of these was former News of the World executive Rebecca Brooks. Dereck Chisora also saw his British Boxing Board of Control license tore up after his brawl with fellow British boxer David Haye after his fight with Vitali Klitschko. There was tragedy on the field as well. During a match between Bolton and Tottenham, midfielder Fabrice Muamba collapsed on the pitch after a cardiac arrest and was dead for over an hour (luckily he has since recovered back to health). In politics, Ireland fell back into the recession, and Satan's Offspring George Osborne announced his controversial budget. In world news, a massive campaign to capture warlord and child-war general Joseph Kony started. In sport, Wales won their 11th Six Nations Grand Slam after victory over France, Kilmarnock won the Scottish League Cup with a 1-0 win over favourites Celtic and Jenson Button won the opening race of the 2012 F1 season at the Australian Grand Prix. However, there was sad news in football again. Aston Villa and ex-Celtic midfielder Stiliyan Petrov was diagnosed with lukeamia and has yet again luckily started to get progressively better.
