Amy MacDonald-4th of July

Yes it is Amy MacDonald. You know, that girl who sung Mr Rock and Roll? Well she is no longer a predictable folk singer (no different from the likes of Newton Faulkner) as she has a new twist to her music, which is shown in her new single 4th of July. There's a slick rock sound in this song, yet McDonald manages to keep her folk image intact with a heavier use of drums and guitar and a stronger voice from the Scottish songwriter. There's something about this song that sounds so different that it's hard to dislike, being light years away from This Is the Life. Radio 1 DJ's are raving about this, so I thought all you should too. Exciting new work from her.

Rating: 9/10
